Dr. Nicolas Croquet

Nicolas is an experienced practitioner in EU and international economic law, with over 14 years of experience in complex commercial and regulatory matters.

 

He has worked at several international law firms, the UK Government Legal Department, and international organisations including the World Trade Organization, the International Trade Centre and the United Nations. His practice covers EU sanctions, export controls, trade remedies, product and chemicals regulation, and WTO and investment law.

 

Nicolas has represented clients before Belgian courts, participated in proceedings before the General Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union, as well as national courts and national competent authorities of several Member State, and acted as co-counsel in cases before the ECHA Board of Appeal. He has also advised governments on trade law issues, including in the context of WTO disputes and the EU–UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement.

 

He combines practice with academia and has held teaching positions at several leading institutions. He was most recently Deputy Director of the American University Brussels Center.

 

Nicolas holds degrees from the University of Cambridge, Université libre de Bruxelles, the University of Oxford, and Columbia University.

He is admitted to the Brussels, England & Wales, and New York Bars.
